Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Green won't save her today, she's just too pinchable!

Norah the Pooh

Titles also considered:
Norah the Bean
Bean the Pooh
Winnie the Bean (2nd place)

HAHA!

My mom just sent me this picture while I'm at work. It totally made my day and I thought I'd share it with you all. She's gotta be thinking, "How cool am I?"

You might be a Daddy's Girl if...

You cry when Mom is holding you, stop when Daddy takes you.  You're definitely a Daddy's Girl if, when given back to Mom, you cry while watching Daddy walk around the room and immediately stop when he picks you back up.

It's okay, Norah, I love him too.

Norah sleeps in her own room, almost rolls over, and tries to sit all by herself.

Despite our best efforts to keep Norah small, she keeps getting bigger and more grown up.  Two nights ago she slept in her room all by herself for the first time.  Maybe she could have been in her own room a long time ago but Alex and I just weren't ready.  Other new parents might understand that when you stumble into a good thing (like the baby sleeping through the night) you hesitate to change anything.  It was a little bit of an adjustment for us.  After we put her down and were back in our room, we realized we were still whispering.  Also, for the first time in four months, we slept with all the lights off.  It was so dark!  Norah did wonderfully, though.  She didn't even wake up when we went back in her room to test the fire alarm, but our ears were ringing!  Last night she took awhile to settle in and we took turns going back to rock her a bit.  I hope it was just an off night and we didn't break her sleeping all night.

We mentioned that Norah is getting close to rolling over.  Here is a picture of just how close she gets:

She can get herself from her back to her side but then just hangs out there until she gets frustrated and we  either help her get the rest of the way over or she tips herself back onto her back.

Also, when we prop her up slightly reclining she pulls herself into a sitting position.

(On a totally random note: I think her feet are quite possibly the cutest things on the whole planet.  So chubby and cute!  I love how she wiggles and stretches them just like grown ups do.  She watches them move sometimes but I don't think she even knows they are hers.  Did we ever mention that she crosses her second toe over her big toe just like her dad?  She's done it since the day she was born.)

She can balance for a little bit and then this happens:

Please ignore my robe, she had just spit up all over my top.

I love this picture:

Four Months

Norah is four months old!  This month we took a trip to visit Daddy's Mom's family in Nevada, where it was very cold.  Norah got all bundled up to see snow for the first time.

She wasn't very happy outside, and preferred to watch the snow from Great Grandma's warm kitchen.
With bear ears on her head.
At four months, Norah:

  • sucks on her bottom lip
  • likes to have her hands in her mouth
  • has laughed, although not the hysterics we're looking forward to
  • likes to stick out her tongue in response to seeing Mom and Dad stick out theirs
  • reaches for toys
  • will hold on to toys put in her hands
  • is getting close to rolling over
  • was sleeping through the night, but lately has been getting up in the wee hours to eat
  • has a regular nap in the morning and a pretty regular bedtime
  • still has that one blonde hair, but it's getting harder to find
  • likes to face out to see the world instead of nuzzling into a shoulder
  • still doesn't really care about the cats but loves to watch the fish
  • gets one or both arms out of her swaddle every night
Here she is at four months old:

Happy Traveler

She did great on the flight, no fussing except for maybe 5 minutes in the middle. She slept like an angel the rest of the time. Fingers crossed she'll do as well on the way home.
