Norah's First Christmas - Part 1
Mimi Came to Visit
Mimi, as she would like Norah to call her, came to visit last week. We are so glad she was able to extend a business trip to spend time with us and get to know Norah. We can't wait to see Mimi again in February when Norah meets Geegee (Great Grandma).

P.S. - Norah had her "1 month" checkup with her pediatrician yesterday. She's growing well and is now 9 lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long. That puts her in the 40-50%ile for weight and 25%ile for length.

For the Aunts
Norah is blessed with talented aunties and great aunties. Here are a few of their creations:
Aunt Aubrey made this quilt. It is bright and happy and we love it!

Aubrey also made this pink dress (and as a bonus, it doubles as a toddler sweater top!)

Aunt Kari made this blanket. We've already used it to snuggle up on after-dinner walks.

Great Aunt Toni made a matching blanket, sweater, bonnet, and booties.

Not pictured are a TON of other handmade gifts including burp clothes by Great Aunt Sandra that get used everyday. Also by Aunt Sandra: a diaper stacker that hangs in Norah's closet, socks she will fit into someday, and accessories for the car seat and shopping basket.
Norah is a very lucky little girl.

One Month
Here are some pictures of Norah at one month old:
It's weird to think our baby can be measured in anything other than weeks. But then again, we thought the same thing when hours turned into days and days turned into weeks.

An Explanation
You might have been wondering why the URL for this blog starts with "norahbean." There are two reasons:
1) norahlynn was taken, and
2) while she was still cooking and we didn't have a name for her yet, we called her The Bean.
I guess we could have just kept calling her "the baby" but that wasn't as fun. Plus, this way, when she kicked she was a (half) Mexican jumping bean.
While we were deciding on a name for her, we were pretty concerned with what nickname she would have. "Norah" doesn't have any good ones, itself being a nickname for another name from our short-list, so we use Norah Bean most of the time.
There's also a pretty long list of other names we call her:
Norah Bird
Norah Pants
Kitten
Wiggly
Princess Norah
Squeaker
Dolphin
Baby
and,
Miss Norah
